HDPE as a nsf approved cutting board

Next time you'll be cutting vegetables on top of your chopping board, spend some time and check out it, the material most likely to be used as a High Density Polyethylene Cut Grade Material - Sheets cutting board is Polyethylene. Given that it is generally FDA and National Sanitation Foundation approved in addition to stain, moisture and odor resistant, Polyethylene is the ideal choice for cutting boards.

Other types of cutting boards made out of wood are predisposed to bacteria and residual odors given that they lack the desiredproperties that Polyethylene sheets offer, like its non permeable work surface, chemical resistance and approval for food contact. High Density Polyethylene is an extremely durable and light-weight material that comes in many forms and is ideal for a wide array of applications. There are several different kinds of Polyethylene commercially available. The most typical are HDPE (High Density Polyethylene), Low Density Polyethylene, and UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene). The key difference has to do with the molecular weight and branching;  this occurs when a monomer or atom is replaced by a longer chain of polymers (a very long repeating chain of atoms).

High Density is frequently used for milk jugs and Tupperware style food containers. Low Density is generally used for water bottles in addition to plastic sandwich bags. UHMW, which has higher molecular weight (2-6 million) allowing for an even transfer over the length of material which makes it stronger, rendering it able to be used with regard to bearing job applications because of the great wear resistance. Regularly used in the food processing and dairy industry, Ultra High Molecular Weight is an effective replacement for various industrial materials along with a fantastic resolution for many wear issues.   These polymers are created from the same polyolefin plastic materials family, but they all have certain properties that make them just a little different. HDPE provides great chemical resistance, has very high impact strength and great energy absorption. LD Polyethylene has lots of of the same properties as High Density but it's not as dense at 9.15, instead of HDPE which is 9.34, in addition to being a softer material ( the one gallon coffee can lids). You'll find it features a lower tensile strength along with greater, less complicated formability.
UHMW is really a strong material with great durability and low co-efficient of friction which makes it an ideal for sliding applications. Dupont makes the plastic material with a lower co-efficient of friction is Dupont Teflon - PTFE; which has a higher temperature and chemical resistance. UHMW Polyethylene provides a lot of material products and properties,  and these kinds of materials include exceptional toughness which might be worthwhile for a variety of applications. From the food industry to automotive, your kitchen or maybe warehouse, whatever your Polyethylene needs are - High Density, Low Denseness or UHMW, Polyethylene is really a good decision.
