An Intriguing Look at Barbados Beyond the Beach: Bajans are a mix of Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean. The island's history of slavery and colonization has left a lasting influence on the Bajan individuals, and their culture reflects this mix of effects and origins.

Despite these past difficulties, Barbadians are well-known for their humour and heart. They are friendly and welcoming. They have a strong sense of society, obvious in how they come together to celebrate celebrations and special occasions. Bajans are content in their skin, and  several have no interest in finding out more about their African heritage. One significant rogue describes: "I know who I am - I am Bajan; what is the point of digging up the past." Not all concur, and many of the Rogues in Paradise are going to do the DNA test to explore their roots and heritage.

The British constructed sugarcane plantations on the island, and by the mid-17th century, Barbados became among the biggest sugar producers worldwide. It was throughout his time in office that the British colonised Barbados. That was exceptional news for Barbados and for the other British conies who made use of the Barbados charter to develop their own.

The book, Rogues In Paradise, discusses the inhuman and extreme slave trade, and how it has and still impacts Barbados today. Yet it is eventually a favorable happy, book that celebrates the spirit in us all.
